Share Your Testimony, I'll Go First

Testimonies, phew. I have so many. 🙌🏽

Let’s talk about the story behind the verse selected for this tee.

The day before Thanksgiving of 2016, I was having cancer and 31 lymph nodes removed and by the company Christmas party of the same year, I was up in front of my colleagues delivering this testimony about God's faithfulness to everyone from the company president to field employees. I have been cancer-free for four years now.  No chemo, radioactive iodine treatments or extended periods of isolation like the doctors warned me about.

Let's step back. When the doctor delivered the high cancer probability news, I was so confident that the Lord would turn this into a testimony that I did not tell anyone the “bad” news because there was none to share - not even my mother. Knowing I’d need time off from work, my employer never got any details either, and they were paying me. 🤷🏽‍♀️ #faith

No one knew. There was no reason to put anything out in the ethos about me and my health but prayer and hope. The endless office visits leading up to the diagnosis was during a time when my older brother was dying from a ruthless disease.

This was too much. It was beyond anything I could do. By myself.

In hindsight, perhaps I would now share such news with a few trusted friends but ultimately we must remember that these battles were never meant to be fought alone. He instructs us to come to Him when we are weary, and there we will find rest.

It would be years later that I pick this verse, as a visual reminder that I am always protected. And you are too. 🙌🏽

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭18:1-3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Over the years I've learned how to balance strong discretion and transparency. Testimonies help us to heal, as it also does for others. Your testimony gives God glory for deliverance - that's something to be excited about!

I invite you to share your testimony in the comments - let us share love and light ❤
